Helping Us Help You: Get the Care You Need Faster!
Did you know? We’ve seen a 20% increase in patients since the pandemic, and 82% of our income goes towards staffing. This means ensuring timely access for patients who truly need to see a doctor is our top priority.
To streamline our services and ensure that patients who require medical attention can be seen promptly, we kindly ask for your cooperation in utilising alternative NHS services provided for minor injuries and ailments whenever possible to help alleviate the demand on our practice, allowing us to prioritise appointments for those in need of care in the GP practice.
Here’s how you can help us reach those in urgent need:
- Use the right resources! 20% of the 13,000 calls to our appointment line could be directed elsewhere. Consider these options:
- Minor injuries (sprains, cuts): Visit a walk-in clinic.
- Minor illnesses (colds, coughs): See your local pharmacist.
- Non-urgent questions or appointment booking: Use our eConsult service (more below).
- Navigate our phone system effectively! 12% of calls on our appointment line aren’t for appointments. Here’s a quick guide:
- Referrals or questions about referrals: Select the secretary line (or use eConsult).
- Prescriptions: Order and check refill status through the NHS app. Urgent prescriptions can be managed by calling 111 (or use eConsult).
- Test results: Check online in your NHS app or use eConsult.
- Discover eConsult! This online service is perfect for:
- Booking non-urgent appointments.
- Seeking advice from a clinician.
- Following up on any issues with appointment booking.
- Submitting non-clinical inquiries (usually answered within 48 hours).
- Clinical requests receive same-day response if sent in before 5 pm.

By working together, we can ensure everyone gets the care they need, when they need it. Thank you for your understanding!
